We have been learning that a morpheme is a word part that changes a word's meaning. A prefix is a morpheme that comes at the beginning of a word. We know the prefixes UN-, PRE-, and RE-. Today we will learn a new prefix: DIS-. The prefix DIS- is pronounced /dis/ with a short i sound like in the word . DIS- means not or apart. If you disagree with someone, you do not agree or you have a different opinion.

DIS- means not or apart. If you disconnect something, you take it apart so it is not connected. I can disconnect my phone from its charger.
